Blake Bilder is coming off a huge unanimous decision victory at UFC 284 against Shane Young in his UFC debut. Bilder received his UFC contract on DWCS back in August of last year.
Bilder’s opponent, Shane Young is a New Zealand native and hasn’t fought for the organization in nearly two years. However, there was more than just anticipation and home-field advantage to this fight. Young had lost his two previous fights, and a loss here would surely harm his chances of a new contract.
James Lynch was able to speak with Bilder where he recapped his victory, and recalls a memory with Bruce Buffer 6 years ago.
Blake Bilder On His Debut at UFC 284
“El Animal” recalled a memory back in 2016 when he would get a chance to speak to infamous octagon announcer Bruce Buffer. “I’m just feeling on top of the world right now man. I manifested this so long ago. I found a video that I said to Bruce Buffer, [from] November 12th in 2016 that he was gonna be announcing my name in the UFC one day, and I made a video about it today, and it was just crazy man. It was like six and a half years ago and yeah it’s just crazy.”
Nearly seven years later, Blake Bilder was able to achieve that dream and perform in front of a crowd on a UFC PPV, and secure a win in his debut.
Bilder finished the job in dominant fashion securing the unanimous decision to kick off the night as the second fight of the early prelims. He was able to outstrike his opponent 126-81 while keeping a nice zero on his record. Blake Bilder is now 1-0 in the UFC and has still yet to be beaten in 8 fights in his professional career. The future is bright for the 32-year-old prospect.
