It’s fight night baby! We have two titles up for grabs tonight! Bellator 227 brings us the rematch we’ve been waiting for McKee vs Pitbull. Patricio Pitbull is looking for revenge for World Grand Prix 2021 and wants to take AJ McKee’s featherweight title belt. Bellator 227 is jampacked with a co-main event. In this lightweight title match, American Corey Anderson will fight to strip Russian Vadim Nemkov of his belt. There will be ten preliminary matchups and four main card fights. Tonight We Fight! Bellator 227 is offering an outstanding main card of four fights with some of its best fighters. Aaron Pico’s original opponent Jeremy Kenny had to withdraw sighting injuries, Aldi Edwards will take his place. If Pico wins tonight it will be his sixth consecutive win. There will also be some heavyweight action tonight! (4) Linton Vassell and (5) Tim Johnson will duke it out, in a must-win for Johnson. If Johnson loses it will be his second straight loss.
AJ McKee vs. Patricio Pitbull 2 fight preview for Bellator 277
The last time McKee and Pitbull met, McKee won by submission in the first round. Winning by submission in the first round has become a habit for McKee, he’s won three consecutive fights this way. McKee said he wants to “make it so Pitbull never wants to fight him again” in a CBS sports interview. Pitbull is out for revenge and has experience on his side but McKee is undefeated and the bigger fighter tonight. McKee has made it known that he plans to win another first-round submission, making 5 in total for him if he pulls it off. McKee also has a homecourt advantage being a California native so expect the crowd to be heavily in his favor.
Expect full-on Rocky IV vibes tonight in the co-main event. Nemkov is favored to win against his American opponent Anderson. Nemkov is Bellators second-ranked pound-for-pound-fighter and the current light-heavyweight champ. To keep his belt he has to stop Anderson’s TKO streak. In Anderson’s last fight he easily beat the former champion, Ryan Bader, by TKO in the first round. Expect this to be a fight to remember.
