Arnold Allen is unsure when he will be able to fight again.
Allen extended his win streak to 12 back in October with a TKO win over Calvin Kattar in the main event of a Fight Night card where Kattar tore his ACL. The Brit is a perfect 10-0 in the UFC and is likely a win away from a title shot. However, he revealed he was offered the co-main event slot at UFC 286 but it didn’t come to fruition due to an injury.
Arnold Allen’s Statement On The News
“I was offered the co-main event but unfortunately I popped a rib out the other week and haven’t been in training for a few weeks,” Allen said on his YouTube channel. “It’s pretty frustrating. It’s not cool… It is what it is. It has been the story of my life. “It has always sort of worked out for the best so we’re just going to keep that positive mindset, hopefully, get back in the gym as soon as I can. I’m confident it’s going to lead to bigger things. It’s just not meant to be. That’s the way it is. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.”
According to Allen, it was also going to be a big fight against the opponent he wanted, which was Max Holloway. That would’ve been a massive fight for both men as had Allen beat Holloway, it would cement his case to get the belt, while Holloway was looking to return to the win column.
It was the fight everyone was expecting and the fight I wanted but I don’t even know the timeline [to fight again],” Arnold Allen said. “It will be a few weeks before I can start training again anyway. Too late to get into camp for that.”
Whether or not the UFC will look to book this fight at a later date is to be seen. But, for now, Arnold Allen will be healing up his injuries and hopefully will be able to fight again soon.
