Arman Tsarukyan believes UFC Vegas 57 will be the statement performance he needs to start getting the bigger fights at lightweight.
Tsarukyan is set to headline the card against Mateusz Gamrot in a very intriguing lightweight matchup as both men are considered two of the best prospects in the sport. The winner of the fight will be in a good position to face a top contender next.
Arman Tsarukyan is Putting the Lightweight Division on Notice
“After this fight, it’s going to be very different,” Tsarukyan said at media day. “Everybody is going to talk about me. After this fight, I’m going to be [a] contender.”
Tsarukyan is 5-1 in the UFC with his lone loss being a short-notice decision defeat to Islam Makhachev. Since then, he has proven to be a legit contender but he believes this fight against Gamrot will prove that.

He has all the confidence in the world that he will go out and finish Gamrot and cement himself as a top contender. Tsarukyan also believes if he does just that, the top five of the division will no longer be able to duck him and turn him down.
What’s Next for Arman Tsarukyan in the UFC?
“This fight is going to be a finish,” Tsarukyan said. “I’m going to finish Gamrot and it’s going to be good fight. After this fight, I’m going to talk a lot about my division, guys who don’t want to fight with me. And after this fight, they cannot (not) accept fight with me. After this fight, I should be top five, probably. No. 6 or No. 5. You guys gotta help me after this fight, talk about me a lot.
“I beat Joel Alvarez,” he continued, “but my rank didn’t go very high. He’s good fighter, I beat him very easy. I hope after this fight I gotta be in top five because Gamrot, he’s a good fighter. I’ll stop him and I’ll get in top five then after this fight I want to be contender and I want to get fight from top five guys.”
Tsarukyan is on a five-fight win streak and coming off a TKO win over Joel Alvarez while also holding wins over Christos Giagos, Matt Frevola, Davi Ramos, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. Gamrot, meanwhile, is 3-1 in the UFC and on a three-fight win streak. He is coming off a TKO win over Diego Ferreira.
