The Triller Fight Club is putting another big event on and this time it’s between Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz on September 11.
News of the potential Triller pairing was first announced by sources at MMA Fighting. In addition, the boxing match will go eight rounds, with 10-ounce gloves per the release. The report also revealed that the fight will take place at 195-pounds.
Triller Back With Some Heavy Hitters
In June, “The Spider” was tasked with a challenging return to boxing when he drew Julio César Chávez Jr. While Chávez Jr. was less committed to the boxing world than his father, Silva capitalized on one of the biggest fights of his life and took home the split-decision victory.
Silva‘s spectacular performance at the age of 46 was a sight to behold and clearly got the attention of some other big names. After a tumultuous tenure as a Huntington Beach Public Elected Official, it seems Ortiz is angling to engage in combat once again. While the pairing was a shock to just about everyone in this space, the fight should be exciting nonetheless.
Prior to his potential showdown with Silva, Ortiz squared off with Chuck Liddell in a marquee boxing event for Golden Boy Promotions back in 2018. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” looked solid for his age, and capped off the rubber match with a knockout finish against “The Iceman”. Then, Ortiz dipped his feet internationally when he headlined Combate 51: Tito vs. Alberto. By the time the fight was just getting started, Ortiz managed to outmaneuver Alberto Rodriguez until finishing the fight with a tight rear-naked choke victory.
Interestingly, the fight between Ortiz and Silva will be on the undercard for the Belfort/De La Hoya super-fight on PPV. When all is said and done, the world will have a new batch of red-hot boxers to contend with.
