Amanda Ribas is looking to earn a flyweight title shot on Saturday night.

Ribas is set to return to the Octagon on the main card of UFC Vegas 54 on Saturday night against Katlyn Chookagian. She’s moving up in weight to take the fight and for the Brazilian, she knows this is a big opportunity for her as if she can beat Chookagian, Ribas thinks she will earn a flyweight title shot.

“That is so amazing because it’s the No. 1 (contender), so this for me … some people think, ‘It’s not too much pressure?’ For me, no,” she said at media day. “For me, it’s a huge opportunity. It’s amazing… I think yes. Of course, it depends on the result of the fight, but yes. I think yes.”

As Ribas says, Chookagian is currently ranked number one at flyweight but was out of options for her next fight as the Brazilian stepped up. Chookagian is a very good striker while Ribas should have the grappling advantage, and for Ribas, she knows this is a difficult fight for her but one she is excited about.

“I think she’s really good fighter and she’s No. 1,” she explained. “I need to be careful because she throws a lot of punches and make a lot of points. I need to put my energy and make my distance because I don’t want her to enjoy the fight. If I did her to do that, it would be good for her, so I don’t want to do that.”

Along with that, the flyweight title is on the line at UFC 275 on June 11 as Valentina Shevchenko takes on Taila Santos. With that, the timing works out for Ribas to fight the winner if she gets her hand raised on Saturday night.

Amanda Ribas returned to the win column last time out as she beat Virna Jandiroba by decision at UFC 267. She was expected to face Michelle Waterson at UFC Columbus but an injury to Waterson canceled the fight and she then decided to move up in weight and face Chookagian on Saturday night.
