Following a first-round submission defeat to UFC Featherweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 259 in Las Vegas, Australian fighter Megan Anderson has become a free agent. Here is a tweet following her loss to Nunes on that fateful Saturday night.
Confirmed by MMAJunkie.com with Anderson’s management team at Paradigm Sports that UFC 259 was the final fight of her contractual obligation. Despite the loss, she is free to resign with the promotion if a contract is offered for her. Instead, she will choose to sit back and plan her future with Paradigm on what her next step will be. Anderson has had some nagging injuries and appears to be nursing them while making plans for her future
Anderson will undergo an MRI of her right elbow and an x-ray of her nose with a 180-day medical suspension. She was a former Invicta FC interim featherweight champion that made her debut, losing to Holly Holm back in June 2018. She holds notable wins over Cat Zingano, Zarah Fairn, and Norma Dumont, as well as losses to Felicia Spencer and featherweight champion Nunes
